The secret recipe for pizza dough fritters: lighter than donuts, ready in minutes, impossible to resist!

Show summary Hide summary

Yes, really! And honestly, there’s nothing wrong with making life easier from time to time. So I prepared some doughnuts by testing the method with ready-made dough, but also with my homemade pizza dough.

It’s delicious! Lighter on the palate than donuts, with a holey texture and less dense. I loved it, and the 3 Mini-Hugs did too! A simple little pleasure that always works.

For the ready-made dough, be sure to choose a thick dough. I used a pizza dough kit, type thick/deep pan, from the “Croustipate thick” kit. Yes, the one with the little jar of really delicious tomato sauce!

No, this is not a sponsored article by Croustipate. But I have to do my shopping somewhere! And since it’s this dough that I used for the recipe, the photos and the video, I might as well share the good tip.

For the recipe, I shot a homemade video. No joking with my doughnuts, I do my best! If my voice sounds stressed, it’s because I’m afraid the oil will touch the lens. And if sometimes it sounds very high-pitched, it’s to cover the induction hob…

I know, it’s far from ultra pro videos in huge workshops with ten Kitchenaids lined up. But my kitchen surely looks like yours, and I succeed with all the recipes on the blog. So I’m proud… Ha!

Below the video, you will find the printable steps. In case you laughed so much while watching that you don’t remember anything. (We’re not Steven Spielberg!)

Pizza Dough Doughnut Recipe

You have my homemade pizza dough recipe (link). Otherwise, use a thick pizza dough, nice and soft. Absolutely avoid thin doughs, as they do not puff up enough during frying.

Ingredients:

• Thick pizza dough
Sugar
Cinnamon
• Frying oil
• 1 large round cutter
• 1 small round cutter

Homemade ring-shaped doughnuts, crispy and golden, covered with sugar and presented on a tray.

Mix the sugar and cinnamon to your taste. Cut large circles from the rolled out or spread thick dough. Make a hole in the center with a small cutter to allow for even cooking.

Soft and round doughnuts sprinkled with sugar, stacked on top of each other for a tasty presentation.

Fry in well-heated oil, then drain on a pastry rack. Roll the doughnuts while still hot in cinnamon sugar to get a fragrant and crispy coating.

And there you go! Delicious doughnuts that are easy, quick, and irresistible.
