Well, it’s true that at first, I often forgot the sugar or put too much, so the texture went crazy. But now, with a well-oiled recipe, you’re sure to get that beautiful syrupy side without it burning. And it’s quick, like really great when you don’t want to spend hours on it.
I must admit, I’m quite picky about the freshness of the strawberries; I choose the ripe, sweet ones, and sometimes a bit wild, because that’s where the flavor explodes. After that, everyone has their tastes, you can also vary with other fruits or a gentle mix.
So here we go, we’re going to tackle this homemade jam with simplicity and good humor, no stress. If you have a Cookeo, let’s start with a recipe that’ll make you forget supermarket jars, promise.
The essential ingredients to succeed your homemade strawberry jam with Cookeo
- 1 kg of fresh strawberries (the best you find, that’s the base)
- 700 g of granulated sugar, but we’ll adjust a bit according to your taste
- 1 lemon (the juice, it helps with preservation and adds a kick)
- A small glass of water (just so it doesn’t stick to the bottom)
Step-by-step preparation: how to make an easy and quick homemade strawberry jam with Cookeo
Well, the first thing is to wash your strawberries properly, but be careful not to drown them. I quickly rinse them under cold water and immediately hull them afterwards, it prevents them from softening too quickly.
Then, I often cut my strawberries in halves or quarters, depending on their size, otherwise it cooks less evenly. I add the sugar with them, so they start releasing their juice before cooking.
- Put the cut strawberries and sugar in the Cookeo pot
- Squeeze the lemon on top
- Pour this small glass of water, I mainly do this so it doesn’t burn at the bottom, not so it’s drowned either
- Set the Cookeo to quick cooking for 10 minutes
Once the cooking is done, I take an immersion blender (yes, I know, it’s not mandatory, but I like a somewhat smooth texture), and blend for a few seconds, not too much, to keep chunks. There, it’s almost finished already!
Utensils to keep handy to prepare your homemade jam with Cookeo
- Cookeo (obviously, without this, you struggle)
- A sharp knife to cut the strawberries
- A silicone spatula to mix without scratching the pot
- An immersion blender, if you like the jam less “rustic”
- Clean jam jars, sterilized beforehand (because preservation is sacred)
Why choose to make your own jam with Cookeo in 2025?
So, I often think that despite all the options on the market, nothing beats the taste of homemade strawberry jam. With Cookeo, it’s really accessible even for those less skilled in cooking.
I don’t know about you, but I like to control the amount of sugar, avoid preservatives, and especially personalize. A bit of vanilla or orange blossom can make all the difference, right, it’s you who decides!
And then in terms of time saving, Cookeo catches up well with some recipes where back in the day you had to stay glued to the pot. Now, you start the cooking, do something else, perfect!
Personal tip: how to avoid your homemade jam from becoming pasty or too sweet
I admit I burned my jam a few times before understanding the trick with sugar and cooking time. Too much sugar stiffens the jam, too little makes it liquid. It’s the dosage that does it all.
- Lower the sugar a bit if your strawberries are ultra ripe and sweet
- Respect the indicated cooking time, do not extend excessively
- Add the lemon to better gel and balance the taste
- Don’t blend too long, the chunks give character
A little trick, it’s also to test the consistency on a cold plate after cooking. If it flows too much, a quick extra round in quick cooking mode can save the day.
